An Unusual Case of Myeloid Sarcoma Demonstrated on Gallium-67-Gallium Citrate Scintigraphy: A Case Report

Tel: (886)4-7238595, Fax: (886)4-7232449, E-mail: [email protected] A 22-year-old febrile woman with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) underwent a Ga-gallium citrate (Ga) scintigraphy for seeking occult infection. Ga scintigraphy showed positive lesions in the left inguinal region. A final diagnosis of myeloid sarcoma was made by means of biopsy examination. Myeloid sarcoma is a rare manifestation in patients with acute myeloid leukemia and may precede the appearance of marrow relapse. Ga scintigraphy is valuable in detecting myeloid sarcoma in patients with AML. One should considered myeloid sarcoma as one of the differentiated diagnoses in reading a positive gallium-avid lesion in patients with AML and fever.
